New entry of a tricolor in the Green Room of the Draft 2023! After Victor Wembanyama (is he invited?) and Bilal Coulibaly, it’s Rayan Rupert’s turn to be part of the rookies’ VIP area. What give hope to the French to be chosen in the top 20!
A few days before the Draft, we wondered where Rayan Rupert would really end up. As much as the top of the table of the first round can be relatively anticipated, as much as its end is a real mess that thwarts all predictions. So, top 20 or 25 for Rayan? Always complicated to be certain around this place. But when we know that the French rear is directly invited to the event, there is rather reason to be optimistic! To be confident with Rupert’s placement in the Draft, you have to understand how players are invited into the Green Room. The NBA asks all franchises to do their top 25 prospects, and then the top 20 that come out are invited to the green room. So we finally have a tangible reason to believe in Rayan to leave in the top 25!
We may be talking regarding formality for some, but remember the mock drafts of the major American media: Rupert was certainly announced 19th at ESPN, but in the second round for CBS Sports et The Ringer. It must be said that his atypical profile as a defensive back with small gaps in attack can puzzle a lot of competitive franchises placed at this stage of the Draft. Now, it remains to be seen in which team Rayan will land. If he just misses the top 20, why not go to Brooklyn in 21 to play with his idol Mikal Bridges? Anyway, Rupert should nab a nice guaranteed contract in the first round with this invitation, and we wish him to fall into a favorable context for his attributes!
With this new tricolor invitation to the green room, the trend is for a minimum of three blue white red draftees in the first round.
