Ravens – Panthers (13-3): Baltimore’s defense too solid for Baker Mayfield

In a very defensive match, the locals knew how to be patient to punish in the money time.

Baltimore Ravens (7-3) – Carolina Panthers (3-8) : 13-3

It took a long time to take shape, but the Ravens ended up winning. Unable to advance his team, and not helped by a non-existent ground game, Baker Mayfield (21/33, 196 yards, 2 ints) chained errors as soon as he had to take risks.

On the other side, Lamar Jackson (24/33, 209 yards, 1int; 11 races, 31 yards, 1TD) did not shine either, but had the merit of committing fewer ball losses. He also knew how to capitalize on the mistakes of his evening opponents with his legs.

Un duel Hekker/Stout

If you wanted to convince your friends to follow American football with this game, you haven’t really made the right choice. Seven punts, an interception and a field goal, the first half of this Ravens-Panthers is clearly not a good promotion for the NFL.

You have to wait until the start of the second quarter to see a possession not end in a punt. On the 30 opposing yards, Lamar Jackson finds the hands of Bravvion Roy and is therefore intercepted. Carolina makes sure to keep Johnny Hekker’s foot warm and does a fourth punt. In total, the Panthers have obtained only 63 yards in this depressing first half.

Finally, the locals opened the scoring on the last possession of this second quarter. A field goal from the very safe Justin Tucker allows the crowds to cheer up a bit, 3-0 at halftime.

It was not until the middle of the third quarter to finally see the Panthers leave their punter on the bench. He is replaced by Eddy Pineiro who offers the equalizer to his team on a kick from 32 yards, 3-3.

A one-sided last quarter

After this slight start, the two attacks go back to sleep until the start of the last quarter. This is the moment chosen by Tucker to restore the advantage to the locals, 6-3. Carolina tries to respond immediately but a fumble caused by Marcus Peters will put a serious stop to their ambitions.

Baltimore immediately punishes this loss of ball with a run from Drake and one from Jackson who finally ends up in the endzone, 13-3.

Back once morest the wall, the Panthers try everything they can, but their last three possessions end in a failed fourth attempt and two interceptions. Maltreated by a solid defense of the Panthers, the Ravens were also able to count on theirs to win a crucial victory in the race for the playoffs.
