The Israeli military said in a statement on Tuesday morning that its planes “targeted key Hamas terrorists, who were operating inside a command and control center located in the humanitarian area in Khan Yunis.”
“Terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip continue to systematically use civilian and humanitarian infrastructure to carry out terrorist activities against Israeli state and Israeli Defense Forces soldiers,” the statement added.
Hamas said in a statement on Tuesday that the claim that its fighters were at the site of the attack was an “absolute lie”.
According to the Reuters news agency, local people and medical personnel say that a camp in Al-Mawasi area near Khan Yunis was hit by at least four missiles. The camp is full of displaced Palestinians who have fled from other parts of the region.
Gaza’s civil emergency service said the attack set at least 20 tents on fire and the missiles left craters up to nine meters (30 feet) deep. It says 65 victims include women and children.
Almost all of Gaza’s 2.3 million people have been displaced at least once, and some have been displaced as many as 10 times.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden has also said that the Israeli Prime Minister is not taking sufficient steps to reach an agreement for the release of the people held captive by Hamas in Gaza.
