In an interview with Programa de Todos os Programas, led by journalists Flávio Ricco and Gabriela França on YouTube, presenter Raul Gil said that he helped Gugu Liberato in his first steps on TV. Gugu died in 2019 following a domestic accident.

Raul said that he took the presenter to his program and gave Gugu a place on the attraction’s jury. “I put Gugu on my jury. In the third program, he said he mightn’t go anymore because he didn’t have clothes”, said the presenter.

In the face of Gugu’s revelation, Raul said he sought out one of the program’s sponsors and asked him to provide the clothes so that Gugu might remain on the jury. Gugu, then, would have received ten suits as a courtesy.

Raul said that Gugu was always grateful for the gesture and made a point of expressing this feeling publicly.

“The important thing regarding all this is that following all the success that Gugu had, he was on my show one day. He asked for permission to invade there, and said: ‘I just came here to thank you for everything you did for me. Today I am where I am, I owe it to you, who put me on your jury and gave me the first suit of my life’”, said the presenter.

Raul Gil, 85 years old, is one of the oldest active presenters in the country, with a career spanning 60 years. The Raul Gil Program, currently on SBT’s programming grid, completes 50 years on the air in 2023.
