Raúl Carrillo, shared knowledge at the World Congress of Sports Medicine

The World Congress of Sports Medicine was recently held in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, where 183 exponents from 47 countries participated, one of them was Dr. Raúl Carrillo Rodríguez, from Saltillo who currently holds the position of Director of Medicine and Applied Sciences of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE).

Carrillo has 25 years of experience in the world of sports medicine and has attended 10 Olympic Games between the summer and winter editions, he graduated from the Norwestern College of Chiropractic in Minnesota, United States, and also has a postgraduate degree from the International Center of Neurological Restoration (Cuba).

Since 2001, Raúl has been the official doctor of the Ukrainian delegation in official events such as the Olympic Games, his quality has allowed him to go through historical passages of the sports world and he was able to stay for a long time in a foreign delegation that usually accumulates at least the double digit of medals in each Olympiad that participates.

In this Congress, Carrillo shared knowledge with Amber Donaldson (Vice President of the medical area of ​​the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee), they addressed the issue of multidisciplinary intervention for the treatment of sports injuries and strategies to integrate multidisciplinary teams.

Raúl has not only contributed his knowledge to the Ukrainian delegation, since he has always been aware of the Mexican athletes and has given his help on many occasions to his compatriots, especially he has attended Mexican athletes from disciplines such as taekwondo and archery, in addition , athletes like Ana Gabriela Guevara, Bibiana Candelas and Nancy Contreras.

The Saltillo doctor emphasized the importance of events such as the World Congress of Sports Medicine, as they are events that work to provide better care to athletes in the future.

“Optimal follow-up for injury prevention and for them to recover in a better way will always represent a benefit and we hope that it will translate into our athletes achieving greater development in their disciplines.”
