Instead of “mountain doctor” Markus Lanz on the Russian war of aggression: more than three million people watched. More than twice as many see the thriller in the first.

An average of 3.14 million viewers watched the ZDF fundraising program “Markus Lanz – Ein Abend für die Ukraine”, which was broadcast instead of the “Bergdoktor”. That corresponded to a market share of 10.7 percent as of 8:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Million donation for Ukraine

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany, Andriy Melnyk, spoke in the program. “By the end of the show, Markus Lanz had collected over 4.17 million euros in donations for Ukraine,” the broadcaster said.

In absolute numbers, the Lanz special had only regarding half as many as the “Der Bergdoktor” series. The final episode of the current “Bergdoktor” season should now come next Thursday (March 17). Accordingly, the new season of the ZDF home film series “Lena Lorenz” starts a week later (March 24).

The first was ahead at prime time on Thursday. The ARD film “Der Bozen-Krimi: Vergeltung” with Chiara Schoras turned on an average of 7.02 million, which corresponded to a 24.0 percent market share from 8:35 p.m. The ProSieben show “Germany’s Next Top Model – by Heidi Klum” had 2.69 million viewers (11.1 percent) from 8:35 p.m.

RTL came with the Spiegel TV format “Putin & Schröder – A Dangerous Friendship” from 8:25 p.m. to 2.69 million interested parties (9.0 percent). The subsequent round of 16 of the Europa League (Atalanta Bergamo – Bayer 04 Leverkusen 3: 2) reached 2.59 million (11.0 percent) on RTL from 9 p.m. and 2.51 million (8.5 percent) in the second half from 10 p.m ).

Behind it at the so-called prime time were the American fantasy spectacle “The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” from 2008 with 1.37 million viewers (4.8 percent from 8:15 p.m.), the Sat.1 report series “Lifesaver up close – If any Second counts” with 960,000 (3.3 percent), the Kabel-eins consumer report “Warning rip-offs – scammers on the trail” with 830,000 (2.8 percent) and the RTLzwei social report “Hartes Germany – Leben im Brennpunkt” with 590,000 (2.0 percent).

Keen interest in Ukraine coverage

As has been the case for the past two weeks, there has continued to be great interest in current reporting on the situation in Ukraine. An ARD “Brennpunkt” broadcast at 8:15 p.m. on the first channel reached 6.89 million viewers (23.2 percent), the “RTL Aktuell Spezial” at the same time 2.25 million (7.6 percent), the program ” Ukraine Special” on ProSieben from 8:15 p.m. 1.49 million (5.0 percent) and at the same time on Sat.1 around 750,000 (2.5 percent).

The ZDF talk show “Maybrit Illner” this time with guests such as SPD leader Lars Klingbeil and CDU leader Friedrich Merz on the subject of “War in Ukraine” saw 2.63 million (17.6 percent from 10.45 p.m.). A week earlier, 4 million had seen the hour-long one-on-one interview with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) at Illner.
