Rashid Rover rushes down the safe lane

ABU DHABI/DUBAI – The UAE’s lunar mission Rashid rover is on a safe path. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, said that the first signal from the rover was received yesterday and all the instruments and systems of the probe are working properly.

The signal was received at the Dubai Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center. The rover was launched on Sunday from a site in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The rover sent its first message to the Dubai Al Khawaneej Space Center from a distance of 4.4 lakh km from the Earth’s surface.

It is expected to land on the moon in April following a 5-month journey. Hakuto-R Mission 1 takes off on the lander. 35 minutes following launch, it separated from the rocket and continued its solo journey to the moon.
