Losses are still being calculated
The mayor of Raseiniai district announced in his Facebook post last week that the municipality will pay 6.3 thousand. euros for part of the losses incurred at the Raseiniai polyclinic.
At the end of last year, a pipeline burst in the Raseiniai polyclinic – the premises were flooded with regarding 40 cubic meters of hot water.
The losses are high and are still being calculated, as an independent appraiser estimated the initial losses at around half a million euros.
It is true that the losses will still be assessed and may increase.
“The losses were estimated by an independent appraiser at half a million euros, and there is also a possibility to assess the long-term losses later, since the Maironis school used to be here, it is a very old building. These are the remaining things, looking into the future, they will remain”, – 15min said the mayor.
“The amount is a little small”
However, the insurance paid only 13 thousand for the damaged walls, floor and ceiling. euros.
“The amount is a bit smaller than we expected, but experts have assessed and experts know better, that cannot be disputed. Of course, it’s good that the building was insured at all, if it wasn’t insured, it would have even sadder consequences for the municipality itself, because it would be necessary to find much more money for repairs,” said A. Nekrošius.
The mayor said that he hopes to use European Union funds to repair the building, but the issue is still under consideration.
“It would depend on the situation how much European funds we would use, because we are participating in a project where medical institutions join together in a cooperation agreement, joint activities. Our hospital, Raseiniui and Ariogalos are participating, so logically the funds might come from there. But here it is not 100 percent and we will think regarding it in progress”, said the mayor of Raseiniai district.
Will fix it this year
According to him, Raseiniai Primary Health Care Center will also receive changes.
“We are planning to set up a dental office in the premises that were flooded, so since we are going to clean it up, it would be possible to renovate it capitally”, hopes A. Nekrošius.
It is not yet clear when the polyclinic will be repaired, but major repairs are planned to be carried out already this year.
“It was managed from the very beginning, because patients had to be admitted, there was no time to wait, air dryers and dehumidifiers were rented, which helped to remove excess moisture from the walls, and following removing the moisture, reconstruction work was started,” said the mayor of Raseiniai district.
