The wolf was seen around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday by at least four witnesses in Geel-Larum. According to the non-profit organization, the animal tried to cross the canal twice. The second was almost fatal, because the wolf struggled for 10 to 15 minutes to reach the bank. He finally achieved it at the cost of a final effort.

The wolf will probably continue its journey over the next few nights. “Wandering wolves are generally between eight months and two years old; they have just left the family home and are in turn looking for a partner and a place to establish their den. During this quest, they sometimes travel hundreds or even up to “a thousand kilometers across Europe. The passage of this specimen in some way announces the beginning of this period of wandering for the species”, explains the non-profit association Landschap.
