Sports journalist Ahmed Schubert strongly criticized the Al-Ahly club’s board of directors, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, after Al-Ahly tied with its counterpart El-Gouna, without goals, in the match that brought them together at Khaled Beshara Stadium in El-Gouna, in the postponed meeting of the ninth round of the Egyptian League Championship.
Schubert said in his radio program: “What I see as I say, Al-Ahly is the most missed group, in front of El-Gouna from 6 to 7 achieved opportunities, and in front of Smouha 9 achieved opportunities, and you feel that something is wrong, is there a missing club spirit? You should know that Al-Ahly’s last 9 matches in the league won only 3 matches. Is this reasonable or logical for the team whose favorite championship is the General League?”
He added: “When we see the players of Zamalek and Shikabala and the youth such as Saif Farouk Jaafar and Imam Ashour go down to the stadium, what do they do? This must be taken into account. The ball has changed and the shape has changed. Give young people a chance, and I gave an example to Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid player, Pedri, Barcelona star, and Al-Ahly.” He needs an expert eye to be chosen so that he can succeed in bridging the problems and gaps he has, especially in the offensive aspect.”
And he continued, “The balance has run out, the salvation is over, and the Al-Ahly fans are putting their hand on their heart because of the fluctuating results, and you have strong matches against Pyramids and losing points. His position in winning the league will be very difficult, the only good thing is that Al-Ahly’s net was not shaken in the past matches, there is a wrong and incomprehensible need. With Al-Ahly, and it is not a problem for Al-Ahly to lose the league championship for a year or two and it happened when I played, and Al-Ahly has a block of matches such as Future, Pyramids and then Zamalek, the lower stage will be difficult and re-evaluation and calculations are required.”

In his television program, Schubert made rare criticism of the Al-Ahly Council, saying, “There is a planning committee in Al-Ahly headed by Mohsen Saleh, and a board of directors headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib and the membership of Hossam Ghaly and a football company headed by Yassin Mansour and the membership of Mustafa Murad Fahmy and Alaa Abdel-Sadeq. Are all these positions formal or are they working in practice? And they nominate players to join the red team, as did Walid Salah al-Din, Muhammad Fadl and Amir Tawfiq, the director of contracts in the Red Castle, as I had previously confirmed that he had terminated the agreement with Moroccan Sofiane Rahimi, on all the details of his joining Al-Ahly, but Musimani refused to include the player and requested the contract. And Schubert added, “I am surprised that Al-Ahly is in this way and in this way. I think that Al-Khatib, Hossam Ghaly, and Mohsen Saleh must quickly intervene and move to improve the situation.”

Al-Ahly continued to waste points in the Egyptian Premier League with a 0-0 draw with its host El-Gouna, on Tuesday, in a postponed match.
Al-Ahly achieved one victory in the last four matches of the league and three victories in the last ten matches in the competition.
After the draw, in the second match under the leadership of new Portuguese coach Ricardo Suarez, Al-Ahly remains in third place and has 45 points from 21 games, six points behind its rivals, leaders Zamalek, who played two games more.
Pyramids occupies second place, four points behind Al-Ahly, who lost 3-2 from Smouha in the previous match in the league.
