With just one meter tall, the Indian Aboli Jarit, 20 years old, is commonly mistaken for a child. She suffers from a rare disease called renal rickets, which limits her growth and forces her to use a wheelchair and diapers.
Because of the illness, Aboli was born without a bladder. As a baby, she needed surgery to cut a small hole in her waist to prevent urine from accumulating in her body. Renal rickets also causes bone deformity and stunts growth.
When Aboli was younger, her bones began to weaken; she often fell and broke her leg. The injury became so painful that she stopped walking and now relies on a wheelchair to get around.
Even with so many difficulties, the young woman says she is lucky to be alive, since most people diagnosed with the rare condition do not survive.
“At 20, I am feeling good, lucky and very special. Everyone ages and starts to look different, but I look like the same person and I really like that”, he says, in an interview with the NeedToKnow newspaper.
Although she has accepted the disease, the young woman is aware of how rickets can limit her and hinder the realization of some of her dreams, such as being famous. Aboli intends to become a Hollywood singer and actress, and hopes to take the first steps in her career soon.
