A woman in Kunming, mainland China, was rubbing her eyes when a worm fell out of her eyes. She was so frightened that she rushed to the hospital for treatment. After subsequent examination by doctors, more than 60 parasites were removed from the woman’s eyes. According to comprehensive reports from mainland China media, a woman in Kunming, mainland China, suffered from eye discomfort and suddenly a bug fell out following rubbing her eyes. She was so frightened that she immediately went to the hospital for treatment. After a doctor’s examination, it was found that there were many living parasites on the surface of the eyeballs and in the eyelids of both eyes of the woman. The doctor later removed all the parasites, and there were more than 60 parasites in both eyes.

In this regard, Guan Jie, the attending physician at the corneal disease and dry eye specialist at Kunming Runcheng Purui Eye Hospital, said that in order to ensure that every parasite can be completely removed and avoid secondary infection, it took her regarding half an hour to remove the parasites. Take it all out. However, it is not ruled out that there are still residual eggs in the patient’s eyes, so the patient is required to return for regular check-ups.

Guan Jie also pointed out that the parasites removed from the patient’s eyes were adult worms of “conjunctival sucking nematodes”. These worms are mostly parasitic on pets and are transmitted through fruit fly bites. However, because the patient was not bitten, so It was determined that the other party had come into contact with a cat or dog that had parasite larvae on its body, and then rubbed its eyes directly, causing the infection.

Finally, the hospital also appealed to the public that those who have pets at home must deworm their pets regularly and wash their hands in time following close contact with pets to avoid rubbing their eyes to increase the risk of infection.
