Purchased in 2010 by a Chinese entrepreneur, the vehicles were never used.

The cars would have remained in a container for all these years, reports Insider Business.

An American company got hold of the three electric cars found in the container.

Once they arrived in the United States, the luxury cars were put up for auction.

A buyer has already made an offer of $500,000 for the three vehicles.

Insider Business states that the cars might be worth well over half a million dollars.

An iconic model

The Tesla Roadster is one of the first models produced by the American company, led by Elon Musk.

Between 2008 and 2012, only 2,500 Roadsters were produced, all of which sold for over US$100,000.

A new version of the Roadster should be marketed shortly by Tesla, while the manufacturer has experienced production delays.
