Rappi: home drama who lost his leg in an accident and they don’t respond

Cristian Abril lost one of his limbs due to an accident while working, colliding with another motorcyclist who was apparently intoxicated.

“You don’t have two jobs for a ‘hobbie’”. Thus begins the story of the affected man, who recounted the drama he lives through because of a motorcycle driver who hit him – he was released – when he was preparing to deliver an address through the rappi platform.

In dialogue with El Tiempo, Cristian Abril explained that he earned extra money working as a domiciliary at night and on the weekendto help in the economy of his home that his wife and son make up.

However, his life changed on December 16, 2022, when a motorcyclist, apparently intoxicated, crashed him, causing serious injuries to his right leg.

I live in Suba Rincón and I have to go to Fontibón for my therapies. These three months I have had more expenses than income, since one does not have two jobs for ‘hobbies’. Now, I can no longer take my wife to work, nor my son to school. I had to pay her for the route despite the fact that we live near her and we had to move close to my wife’s work, ”said the man in the aforementioned medium.

What Cristian claims is that as a result of the accident he was unable to return to work and this has impacted the well-being of his family; reason why He awaits a response from Rappi, since the accident occurred when he was preparing to deliver the address and there is insurance, close to 20 million pesos, that covers it.

“I have gone to the Rappi headquarters and they have seen that I am a disabled person and they still do not give me an answer. I have to pay for a car to get around, I have to ask someone to take me, I cannot be coming and going to see if they finally take care of me, ”she said.

Given the delicate situation, the newspaper contacted the company and there they reported that they have provided support to the worker, but that, unfortunately, the procedure is behind schedule.

“We regret the inconvenience this delay has caused. Our operations team was moving forward to issue the document as soon as possible. We are already taking measures so that this process is not delayed for Cristian or for any other distributor registered in the Soy Rappi application“, mentions.

The company even stated that they are awaiting the invalidity ruling from the authorities to advance in the procedure, whose policy “includes the reimbursement of healing expenses and additional expenses that the beneficiary may incur such as the purchase of medicines, medical tests, healing elements, among others.”
