Rapid Support Forces Force Hundreds to Leave Villages in Sennar State

Sudan – Local sources in the city of Al-Dinder in Sennar State in southeastern Sudan told Al Jazeera yesterday, Wednesday, that hundreds of people were displaced from villages north of the city to the city of Al-Qadarif.

The sources added that the displaced people used traditional Nile boats to cross the Dinder River eastward following elements of the Rapid Support Forces entered the villages north of Dinder and fired random bullets in the middle of residential neighborhoods and stole cars from citizens, in addition to beating and torturing young men.

The number of displaced people who arrived from Sennar to Gedaref exceeds 60 thousand

She pointed out that most of the displaced people are children, women and the elderly who headed east to Gadarif on foot following the power and communications network were cut off and roads were disrupted as a result of the rains.

Sources suggested that the Rapid Support Forces were behind this military operation, although no official statement was issued by the forces claiming responsibility for the attack.
