Vehicle sales in China rose 8.4 percent year-on-year to 2.582 million units in August, according to data released Monday by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
The country’s vehicle production rose 7.5% year-on-year to 2.575 million units last month. Sales and production reversed their decline reported in July thanks to pro-consumption policies taken by the government.
During the first eight months, vehicle production and sales increased by 7.4% and 8%, respectively, generally in line with levels recorded during the January-July period.
Data released on Monday also showed that production and sales of new energy vehicles jumped 22 percent and 27 percent, respectively.
