Ranking: The top 10 new cars sold in Luxembourg in 2022

The registration figures for new passenger cars, for 2022 in Luxembourg, show a third consecutive year of decline. They amounted to 42,094 in 2022, once morest 44,372 in 2021 (-4.74%), according to figures provided Thursday by the Belgian and Luxembourg Federation of the automobile and the cycle (Febiac). This is the smallest total observed since… 1999. The sector thus sold 2,095 fewer units over one year between 2021 and 2022. Under the effect of the Covid, the registration curve had reversed in 2020 with 45 188 cars registered, following three record years and a peak in 2019 at 55,008 units.

In terms of engines, petrol vehicles represented 34.6% of registrations in 2022, compared to 38% in 2021. They still exceeded 43% a year earlier. The decline of diesel cars is confirmed, their share dropping from 25.2% to 21.9% in one year. It was nearly 37% in 2020. In this context, all-electric vehicles continue to grow with a jump of nearly 5%, to 15.2% of vehicles registered in 2022 (6,393 units, +10% in two years). The hybrid is also progressing (from 16.3 to 19.1%), while the rechargeable hybrid loses one point (9.1%).
