Billionaire and founder of Randstad Frits Goldschmeding passed away last Friday at the age of 90. The employment agency announced this. Goldschmeding founded his agency in 1960, which grew into one of the largest employment agencies in the world.
Frits Goldschmeding founded Randstad in 1960 after writing a thesis on temporary work as part of his Master’s degree in Economics. He held the position of CEO for 38 years. He joined Randstad’s supervisory board in 1999 and retired in 2011.
For years, Goldschmeding was considered the richest man in the Netherlands. In a recent billionaires overview by business magazine Forbes, he was listed with an estimated fortune of 6.8 billion euros. He was honorary chairman of the ABU, the Dutch trade association for private employment agencies, after having served on the board for many years. He has received various awards. In 2015, he founded the Goldschmeding Foundation, a philanthropic foundation that is committed to improving the way people work and collaborate.
The ICT sector is one of Randstad’s core sectors. To that end, it launched a new brand last August: launches a new brand worldwide: Randstad Digital. This new organization focuses on multinationals that are desperate for tech personnel. In addition, subsidiary Yacht is a well-known name in the Dutch ICT secondment world.
