Rancagua will be the new station for the astronomy exhibition – El Urbano Rural

The traveling exhibition “A trip from Chile to the Universe” continues its tour of the O’Higgins Region, this time it will be housed in the Casa del Pilar de Esquina de Rancagua.

From this Wednesday, September 28 to Thursday, October 13, Rancagua will be the new station of the itinerant astronomical exhibition “A trip from Chile to the Universe”, organized by the University of O’Higgins, PAR Explora O’Higgins and the Chilean Foundation for Astronomy (FUCHAS), with the support of the Rancagua Regional Museum.

Thus, the public of the regional capital will once once more be able to enjoy the six astronomical discoveries made from our country, presented through gigantographs and augmented reality in the Casa del Pilar de Esquina (State with Ibieta), in front of the Rancagua Regional Museum. The schedules will be from Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“This new station of the itinerant astronomical exhibition coincides with the holding of our 2022 Science Festival, which is the largest scientific dissemination party in the region. Therefore, we invite Rancagüinos to attend this free exhibition that we organize together with FUCHAS with great affection for all the inhabitants of the O’Higgins Region. Everyone is invited”, said the director of PAR Explora O’Higgins, Rodrigo Verschae.

“This exhibition presents the six most relevant findings that have been made in Chilean territory, using professional telescopes located in the north of our country. They will be able to learn regarding supernovae, black holes, exoplanets, planet formation, the primordial molecule for life and finally, regarding Triton, one of Neptune’s moons. It is a new and interesting activity, people will be able to get closer to astronomy and learn regarding the work and research carried out by astronomers in our country. We invite you to get to know the sample”, pointed out the scientific adviser of PAR Explora O’Higgins, the astronomer Romina Ahumada.

The itinerant astronomical exhibition will have its official inauguration on Wednesday, September 28, at 11:00 am, with the presence of students from the Liceo de Niñas and the Andrés Bello School.
