Ramallah.. Mustafa discusses with Lamy and Sigourney efforts to stop the war on Gaza

Palestine – Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa discussed, yesterday, Friday, with British Foreign Minister David Lamy and French Foreign Minister Stephane Le Foll, efforts to stop the Israeli war on Gaza.

Mustafa called on the two countries to recognize the Palestinian state.

This came during their reception in his office in the city of Ramallah, in the central West Bank, according to a statement issued by Mustafa’s office, a copy of which was received by Anadolu Agency.

According to the statement, Mustafa discussed with the two ministers “advancing efforts to stop the war of extermination against our people in the Gaza Strip, enhancing relief efforts in the Gaza Strip, and stopping the escalation of the occupation army and settlers and their attacks in the West Bank.”

Mustafa appreciated the efforts of the two countries and their continuous calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and avoiding escalation in the region as a whole.

He stressed “the necessity for France and Britain to recognize the independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state, and to follow up on the implementation of the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.”

On July 19, the International Court of Justice stressed in an advisory opinion that the Palestinians have the right to self-determination, and that Israeli settlements in the occupied territories must be evacuated.

On Thursday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in a speech before the Turkish Parliament in the capital Ankara that Palestine has received recognition from 149 countries, and is continuously seeking more of these recognitions, as well as obtaining full membership in the United Nations by a decision of the Security Council.

Mustafa said, according to the statement, that his government “has drawn up plans to work in the Gaza Strip the day after the war stops, and to work on unifying the institutions between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, under the roof of one authority and one government.”

He continued: “The government, from the first day of the establishment of the National Authority until today, has been responsible for providing all basic services in the Gaza Strip, including education, health, water, electricity, and daily matters for our people, and it has not been cut off from them.”

The Palestinian Prime Minister renewed his call on the international community to “support efforts to stop the aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip, support the government’s efforts in reconstruction and the unity of the Palestinian territories under the independent state and end the occupation, and achieve more recognition of the State of Palestine and full membership in the United Nations.”

For their part, the British and French foreign ministers stressed “the need to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and allow aid in,” according to the statement.

They considered that “stopping the escalation in the region is the only option.”

They rejected “the escalation in the West Bank and the terrorist attacks by settlers on Palestinian citizens and their property, and affirmed our people’s right to establish their independent state,” according to the same source.

Lamy and Sigourney arrived in Ramallah from Israel, where they met their counterpart, Israel Katz.

With American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, leaving more than 132,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.

In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
