Rally – Corona demo with around 1,000 participants in St. Pölten

There were 64 ads and four arrests, said Johann Baumschlager from the Lower Austria State Police Department to the APA. “The mood was heated throughout,” reported the spokesman. Because of a banner glorifying National Socialism, a person was reported to the public prosecutor’s office under the Prohibition Act.

63 reports were made to the St. Pölten magistrate in accordance with the Covid Measures Ordinance for aggressive behavior or a breach of decency. Three people who refused to wear masks were arrested, and there was also one arrest for resistance to state authority. The fact that a well-known opponent of the Corona measures was arrested twice also caused resentment among the participants.

The event announced as a large demo under the title “No to compulsory vaccination – for freedom”, to which the FPÖ had also invited, started at 12 p.m. with a rally in front of the country house. Afterwards, the participants marched through the Lower Austrian capital and back to the government district until 4.15 p.m.

According to the information, the demonstrators included supporters of the FPÖ, MFG (People – Freedom – Basic Rights) and the QAnon conspiracy theorists. Around 120 police officers were on duty.
