Ralf Schumacher, the former Formula 1 star, recently announced publicly that he is gay. After two years of a relationship with his French friend Etienne, he decided not to hide his orientation any longer. He shared this bold step on social networks, where he posted a photo from a joint vacation on a yacht in Saint Tropez. On that occasion, his son David fully supported him and expressed his joy that his father had finally found happiness.
But Ralf’s coming-out also caused considerable tension in the family circle. His ex-wife Cora Schumacher, with whom he has a son David, feels deeply betrayed. In an interview with Der Spiegel, she said that she felt abused and robbed of her best years. In addition, Cora claims that although she suspected that her husband was not heterosexual, she was never told anything directly, adding to her pain.
Tensions escalated between the ex-spouses after Ralf posted their private conversation on social media, in which Cora expresses her suspicions that Ralf and Etienne are married. Cora called this revelation pitiful and pathetic, further deepening the rift between them.
The situation is also complicated by the fact that Cora does not have a good relationship with her son David, who is, on the contrary, very close to his father. David follows in his footsteps and becomes a car racer, which strengthens their relationship even more. This makes Cora feel more alienated, both from her ex-husband and from her son.
