P Santosh Kumar will contest the Rajya Sabha elections as the CPI candidate from the LDF. LDF Convener A Vijayaraghavan told a news conference that the CPI (M) and the CPI (M) would contest in two of the three vacant seats. The decision was taken unanimously by the LDF state committee chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He also said that there is a good rapport between the constituent parties. The decision to field Santosh Kumar was taken at the subsequent CPI state executive meeting. The CPI (M) will announce its candidate following the state secretariat convenes on Friday.
Santosh Kumar is the CPI Kannur district secretary and a member of the state council. He was a member of the Kannur University Syndicate, AIYF National President and General Secretary. In 2011, he contested from Irikkur Assembly constituency. He was born in 1971 in Irikkur Padiyoor to KP Prabhakaran and PV Radha. He is the grandson of Salem martyr P Ananthan Master and freedom fighter and communist leader KK Aditya. Wife: Dr. Simple (Koyam GHSS Principal). Children: Hrithya (Miranda College, Delhi), Hrithik (Plus One student).
