This red pin with an orange hand drawn in its center actually carried a strong symbolism. Alongside the cause of violence against women, which Judith Godrèche championed this Friday, February 23, the specter of war between Israel and Hamas hovered above the public. Beyond speeches in favor of world peace, this small badge represented the symbol of the ceasefire in Gaza.

Arieh Worthalter, who won the César for best actor for his role in The Goldman Trial declared: “We are united as a species, because in light of the lessons of past pain, the path that is taken is not part of a repair of the world.” Another poignant speech, that of Kaouther Ben Hania, walked away with the César for best documentary for Olfa’s daughters. The latter did not mince her words, calling to “stop the massacre”. “It’s so horrible and no one can say they didn’t know. “It’s the first live-screen massacre, live on our phones,” lamented the 46-year-old director, not forgetting to also pay tribute to Russian opponent Alexeï Navalny, who died in prison on February 16.
