The Supervision of Special Education decided to suspend classes in the special job training school 6 throughout the week, in agreement with the management team.

Classes would resume only at the end of the winter break, as long as the necessary works have been carried out in the building.

«We hope that the winter break is long enough to address the tasks that are urgent in the establishment, in order to receive students and workers in optimal conditions upon return,” they highlighted from Unter Bariloche.

Silvia Schroedes, from the teachers’ union, pointed out that the problems arose at the beginning of the year with the provision of the transport service, which was only guaranteed in recent days.

Job training school 6 -which has an enrollment of more than 100 students with disabilities- currently operates in three locations: in a building in the El Frutillar neighborhood, on Albarracín y Villegas street and on 2 de Agosto 1350 street. Meanwhile , the work of the final building on the corner of Elordi and Mascardi is advancing.

«The building on 2 de Agosto is an absolute precariousness. It is a renovated house with many drawbacks,” Schroedes objected, mentioning that “there are water leaks through the walls, leaks fall on the light boxes and in the kitchen. There are classrooms that are freezing and many students suffer from respiratory problems. The building is not suitable for students with reduced mobility.

He said that at first, given the constant rains, the supervisor suggested evaluating the conditions of the place day by day. «No matter how much it stops raining, there is a risk for anyone -even more so if there are health complexities-. The walls are damp and the place is uninhabitable. For this reason, it was decided to suspend the activities so that they do the necessary works during the recess, “he said.

leaks and short circuits

On the other hand, a group of parents from primary school 295, known as Techo Verde, decided not to send their children to school as a result of water leaks that caused short circuits in the building. It is the second measure of force that parents have taken in the last three weeks.

“There are a lot of leaks and yesterday the power went out on the upper floor. Circuit breakers tripped. Maintenance staff from the School Council said that the building is in good condition, but we are not going to risk our children“, indicated one of the parents of the institution.

Days ago, the educational community filed an appeal in Family Court 9, in charge of Judge Marcela Trillini, in which photographic images of puddles of water in classrooms and hallways, and bins to contain leaks were added.

This newspaper tried, unsuccessfully, to communicate with the Andean Zone Education delegate, Beatriz Alarcón to consult her regarding the situation of both establishments.
