Alappuzha: Although the heavy rains have eased slightly across the state today, the alert will remain strong. As part of the rain alert in the districts, the Collectors have announced a holiday for educational institutions tomorrow. The first holiday was announced in Alappuzha district. The District Collector announced that tomorrow (August 6) will be a holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges and Anganwadis in Alappuzha district. A partial holiday has also been declared in Pathanamthitta. Pathanamthitta District Disaster Management Authority Chairperson and District Collector Dr. Divya S Iyer has declared a holiday.
Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Department has stated that the threat of rain will continue in Kerala in the coming days. In addition to the presence of a cyclonic vortex over the Andhra Pradesh coast in the central-west Bay of Bengal.
The rain threat remains strong due to the presence of another cyclonic vortex over central Karnataka. The Central Meteorological Department has estimated that a low pressure is likely to form in the northwest Bay of Bengal by August 7. Due to its influence, widespread rains and isolated heavy rains are likely in Kerala from 6th to 9th of this month. Heavy rain with thundershowers is also possible at isolated places.
At the same time, all the red alerts were withdrawn by this followingnoon as the rains decreased in the state. The red alert issued in eight districts including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur has been withdrawn. Meanwhile, orange alert has been announced in 8 districts. Orange alert has been announced in Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. 4 districts are on yellow alert. Yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts. Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts are currently under no rain warning.

The Central Meteorological Department has announced a yellow alert due to the possibility of heavy rain in the districts. Heavy rainfall means rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in some districts, but as there is a possibility of isolated heavy thundershowers in the hilly areas, caution should be exercised similar to the orange alert in the hilly areas which have received heavy rains in the past few days.
