The artistic director of the Raimundspiele, Johannes Krisch, convinced the “master of acting and mask art in Germany” of the unique atmosphere in the idyllic Piestingtal, according to a broadcast on Wednesday in Gutenstein (Wiener Neustadt district).
Johannes Krisch was “very winning”, Achim Freyer was quoted as saying. On March 9th, 10th and 14th, 2022, the public painting of the tent will take place in the painting hall of the Volkstheater-Depot in Unterwaltersdorf (Baden district).
Freyer: “I’m very impressed by the overall package”
According to Achim Freyer, he was impressed by the “complete package of the Raimundspiele Gutenstein with direction, stage design, costumes, the design of the theater tent and the artistic participation of a cement factory in the outdoor area of the venue”.
Born in Berlin, who was awarded the Nestroy Prize for his life’s work in 2015, he staged “Oedipe” at the Salzburg Festival in 2019, which the “New York Times” described as the world’s best opera production of 2019. 87-year-old Achim Freyer is happy “to be working in this beautiful corner of Austria”.
Krisch: “There will be a lot of surprises”
Johannes Krisch and his wife Larissa Fuchs, both members of the ensemble at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, will be seen in Ferdinand Raimund’s The Bound Fantasy. In addition, Krisch was able to win “a few well-known names” such as Tobias Reinthaller, Michaela Klamminger, Alexander Stromer, Edu Wildner and Tini Kainrath for the cast list.
“We are very much looking forward to finally being able to show a stage production once more. The fact that we were able to win such a top-class team for this increases the anticipation even more. In 2022 there will be a lot of surprises in Gutenstein – at least I can promise that.” the artistic director. Advance ticket sales for the 15 performances from July 13 to August 7, 2022 have already begun.
