Railway arranges 400 billion VND to install signal equipment at 270 crossings | Traffic

Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) said that in 2023, the Corporation will sign a contract to order and install additional signaling equipment at 270 crossings, divided into 65 works with a total capital of 400 billions of state budget.

These projects are allocated capital for implementation under the directive of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh in 2021. Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport placed an order. Vietnam Railway Corporation fully repair and supplement the signal system as prescribed for 566 guarded crossings, implemented from 2022 and complete in 2023.

However, in 2022, only 200 billion VND will be allocated from the economic non-business capital to deploy and install at 112 attic crossings. In 2023, 400 billion VND will be allocated to implement at 270 guarded crossings.

“Due to the insufficient funding for the crossings, the repair and installation of all 566 crossings has not been completed according to the schedule in the directing document of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh. Currently, the railway is proposing to extend the implementation deadline so that the competent authorities can arrange enough capital to complete the remaining guarded crossings,” a VNR representative said.

According to the directing document of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh on the allocation of funds for upgrading, renovating and repairing the crossing to ensure railway traffic safety according to Decision 994/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister Prime Minister.

The Ministry of Finance shall allocate sufficient and timely capital for the Vietnam Railways Corporation to carry out this work from 2022 and complete all this work in 2023,” the directive stated.
