After significant damage on certain TER lines, rail traffic was still disrupted this Saturday morning, with delays and cancellations of trains, particularly in Hauts-de-France, Brittany, Normandy and New Aquitaine.

After the passage of storm Ciaran, rail traffic was still disrupted this Saturday morning. The SNCF continues to gradually restore certain connections, with an impact on TER and TGV trains which run on mixed lines, tracks shared with TER.

The SNCF has not provided any specific update on the situation at the national level, but invites travelers to find out before going to the station to check whether or not their connection is maintained. Information is communicated on the official TER sites, dedicated X accounts (ex-Twitter), SNCF Connect and other mobility applications.

BFMTV.com takes stock of the situation this Saturday late morning in the main regions concerned, Hauts-de-France, Normandy, Brittany and New Aquitaine:

Hauts-de-France, gradual return to normal

On his Twitter accountthe Hauts-de-France TER network this morning mentions traffic that is still “very disrupted on certain lines” with “traffic which will gradually resume throughout the weekend”.

On the site TER of Hauts-de-Francethe last note takes up this same message of still very disrupted traffic and a gradual recovery during the weekend.

On the page dedicated to train timetableswe can for example see that the TER at 1:47 p.m. departing from Paris Nord with Laon as its final destination has been canceled, with a postponement to the “TER K15 Paris Nord 2:32 p.m. Laon 4:15 p.m.”.

Normandy: four lines still cut

On the Normandy network websitehere is the latest information available for this day of Saturday, November 4:

“Traffic has gradually resumed on the majority of the axes of the Normandy Lines. The damage caused between Bréauté and Fécamp, Caen and Cherbourg, Rouen and Amiens as well as between Caen and Granville does not allow train traffic to resume this Saturday, November 4 .”

“Specific measures have been put in place to facilitate the exchange and reimbursement of tickets for the canceled trains”, we can also read.

The “SNCF NOMAD TRAIN” Twitter account also mentions disruptions between Le Havre and Harfleur, 15 minutes delay on the Paris-Le Havre line and answers travelers’ questions on a case-by-case basis:

Brittany, a situation still very disturbed

In Brittanymany lines were still to be restored this Saturday morning:

“Traffic was able to resume on Friday on a large part of the network from eastern Brittany to Saint Brieuc and Lorient”, can we read, with the list of sectors still to be cleared, with a resumption of traffic not planned for this Saturday:

  • Lorient <> Quimper
  • Quimper <> Brest
  • Brest <> Saint Brieuc
  • Carhaix <> Guingamp
  • Paimpol <> Guingamp
  • Plouaret <> Lannion

“We are also awaiting the re-supply of electricity by the Enedis teams, also in great demand, on a certain number of points to restart our signaling,” adds the press release.

It is also difficult to put in place alternatives such as replacement coaches: “The SNCF Voyageurs teams are trying to put in place means of road substitution but given the state of the roads and the telecom network to reach the bus companies, the organization of these substitutions is very complex”, notes the SNCF.

Weather conditions, with the new gusts expected over the weekend which do not allow us to give a forecast time or even a day for the complete resumption of traffic.

Nouvelle-Aquitaine: three return lines on Sunday

Strong winds are expected this weekend, notes the Nouvelle-Aquitaine TER Twitter account: “For safety reasons, no trains will run on La Rochelle ↔ Bordeaux/Poitiers, Niort ↔ Royan and Bordeaux ↔ Le Verdon from Saturday 6 p.m. to Sunday 10 a.m.

On other lines, traffic had resumed on Friday at 4 p.m., indicates this message which details the consequences in the event of a storm:
