Rail strike: major disruptions are expected this Wednesday

This Wednesday, October 5, the railway unions are on strike. Major disruptions are expected on the rail network.

If you have to take the train tomorrow, you will have to organize yourself. The railway unions are on strike from 10 p.m. this Tuesday evening and for a period of 24 hours. In terms of the disruptions that are expected, no train will run in the provinces of Luxembourg and Namur. Elsewhere, traffic will be very disrupted.

In terms of the alternative transport plan, unfortunately we will not have a train in two provinces: in the province of Namur and Luxembourg. For the rest of the other provinces, about a quarter of the trains will run. We won’t have a ‘P’ train, so these are the trains that run mainly during morning and evening rush hour. There will therefore be almost no ‘P’ train. Concerning the IC trains or the S and L trains, there will be two IC trains out of approximately five. These are the trains that run between major cities. For S or L trains, i.e. omnibuses, we will have one train out of four“Reports Marianne Hiernaux, spokesperson for the SNCB.
