Back in March of this year, the OÖN reported on Raiffeisenbank Schärding Region’s plans to build a primary care center (PVZ) in the district capital. The groundbreaking ceremony took place last week for the new health facility, which will be built with a total area of almost 2,100 square meters directly next to the recently renovated Raiffeisen-Techno-Z. Construction will begin in the fall and the work is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. According to Raiffeisenbank, an investment of eleven million euros aims to ensure efficient, sustainable and efficient health and medical care in the region.
Four doctors already fixed
“We are aware of the development in the area of general practitioners and have therefore been involved in coordination with the doctors, the health insurance company and the municipality,” explain Matthias Breidt and Karin Wallerstorfer-Rögl, managing directors of the Raiffeisenbank Region Schärding. Four Schärdingen general practitioners, including the former district medical spokeswoman Ursula Hammel, her successor Bernhard Hohenberger as well as Sandra Pöttler-Huemer and Wolf Dieter Wagenbichler, have tried to establish the PVZ and have already secured the preliminary contracts. In addition to the four doctors, the new facility will cover the areas of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, clinical psychology and social work, among others. It is said that there are already interested doctors in the other available ordination rooms.
In order to meet the flood protection requirements in the city, the PVZ, like the Techno-Z, will be built on stilts. The two buildings will be connected by a shared terrace. This means that the catering area in Techno-Z can also be used across the board. The energy supply will take place in the form of district heating and photovoltaics. LED lighting completes the concept.
During the construction work, particular attention will be paid to regional added value. As far as possible, construction contracts should be awarded to regional companies. “We are committed to projects that create added value and for which no one else can raise the necessary funds,” says Josef Kinzl, chairman of the cooperative bank. This does not mean pursuing the most profitable opportunities, but rather the long-term benefit for the region.
