Rahul started, Surya supported, Hardik made the Aussies rich; Huge score for India

Mohali: Good score for India in the first T20 once morest Australia. After losing the toss in Mohali, India went into bat and scored 208 runs for the loss of the allotted over. KL Rahul (55), Hardik Pandya (71 not out in 30 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (46) led India to a good score. Nathan Ellis took three wickets for Aussies.

It was a bad start for India. With only 35 runs on the scoreboard, India lost the wickets of Virat Kohli (2) and Rohit Sharma (11). Rohit was brought to the hands of Josh Hazelwood Ellis. Koliawatte returned with a catch to Cameron Green off Ellis. It was the Rahul-Surya alliance that later came together at the crease that saved India from collapse.

Both added 68 runs. But Hazelwood gave the Aussies a break through by dismissing Rahul. Rahul’s innings included four fours and three sixes. Soon Surya also returned. Wicket keeper Matthew Wade caught by Green. Axar Patel (6) and Dinesh Karthik (6) who came next disappointed.

Meanwhile, Hardik completed his half-century. Hardik’s innings included five sixes and seven fours in 30 balls.

Rishabh Pant has been left out of India’s playing XI while Tim David will make his debut for Australia today. Jasprit Bumrah is not playing in today’s match following recovering from injury. Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel are the Indian spinners. While Harshal Patel returned to the pace line, Umesh Yadav also made it to the final eleven as the third pacer. Deepak Hooda and Rishabh Pant were dropped as Dinesh Karthik came into the playing eleven as wicket keeper.

Earlier, when India and Aussies met in a T20 at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, the Blue Army won. Till date, India and Australia have faced each other in 23 T20Is. India has won 13 of these T20s. Aussies’ win was limited to 9 while 1 match was in vain.
