There were reports that Rahul Dravid will step down as the head coach of Team India following the World Cup final defeat. There are also reports that BCCI is in talks to persuade Rahul. Now the information is coming out that Dravid may be the mentor of IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants.
BCCI wants Dravid to remain as head coach. But Dravid decided to spend time with his family away from the team’s hectic schedule and constant travel. Reports also suggest that BCCI may hold a meeting to know Dravid’s decision.
Rahul’s IPL entry will depend on the talks between Dravid and BCCI. It is reported that Dravid is in talks with Lucknow Supergiants. If so, Dravid will become LSG’s mentor before IPL 2024. IPL lasts only two months. This will allow Dravid enough time to be with his family and help him stay connected to the game as a coach, the report said.
Dravid will become India’s head coach following the 2021 T20 World Cup on a two-year contract. The then BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and current secretary Jai Shah were instrumental in persuading Dravid to take up the role following Ravi Shastri’s tenure ended. Dravid’s tenure officially ended with the conclusion of the ODI World Cup. India did not win an ICC trophy under Dravid but performed well. India is currently the top ranked team in all three formats.
