Raheem Sterling confident after Arsenal move: ‘You’ll see the best version of me’

One of the most high-profile transfers of yesterday’s Deadline Day of the summer transfer window was Raheem Sterling’s move from Chelsea to Arsenal. The English winger was rather unexpectedly loaned by the current vice-champions of England in the final hours of Deadline Day. The player himself was keen to join the Gunners from the very beginning. The 29-year-old now announces that it will be a great move for them.

Sterling spent the last two years at Chelsea after leaving Manchester City. Unfortunately, he has been doing very poorly in the blue part of London. Last season in particular was very average for him. The transfer to Arsenal is supposed to be a chance for him to return to the form he showed during his time with City. The England international is convinced that he will indeed be able to return to his best form with The Gunners.

“Joining Arsenal is a really amazing feeling. I’m really excited about it. It’s the perfect fit for me! I see the journey that this group of lads have embarked on and I want to be a part of it, be a part of it and be a part of it. You’re going to see the best version of me,” said Sterling.

The Armata’s sporting director, Edu Gaspar, is also excited about the Englishman’s transfer. The former Londoner was responsible for the negotiations on the deal. He admitted that reaching an agreement in these talks was very important to him, but he did not plan to bring the Chelsea player to Arsenal.

“Well, to be honest, we never really planned to sign him when we started this transfer window. But when the opportunity came up, I checked the squad, checked how he was playing and of course I spoke to Mikel. I spoke to Tim, our vice-chairman, to see if everyone was happy with the move we were going to make.

It made sense to have someone like him join our team. I am sure he will bring a lot to the team. Raheem has experience, understands the league better than anyone else and has played in the Champions League many times,” he stated.
