News Weather

Despite a brief decrease thanks to the weather, ragweed pollen concentrations will start to rise once more in the coming days.

The Weather Channel offers you its weather and allergy bulletin every Friday, in partnership with and RNSA.

In mid-September, ragweed pollen is still very present in the air. After a brief respite for allergy sufferers in the middle of the week thanks to periods of downpours, the concentrations of ragweed pollen in the air are starting to rise once more and will be moderate in the infested areas over the coming days thanks in particular to the rising temperatures and which promote continued flowering.

The risk of allergy will still be high in 11 departments: Drôme, Ardèche, Isère, Rhône, Ain, Nièvre, Cher, Indre, Saône-et-Loire, Doubs and the Jura as well as in the Mareuil sector in Dordogne. The risk of allergy will be low to medium in neighboring areas.

Good news for allergy sufferers in the south-east and west, the risk of allergy will drop (especially in Gard and Vaucluse) thanks to thunderstorms expected this weekend and which will lead to a reduction in the concentrations of ragweed pollen in the air and will bring a little well-deserved respite to allergy sufferers!

The season for grasses, sagebrush and nettles (urticaceae) is coming to an end. The concentrations of these pollens in the air will be low, except around unmown fields and paths as well as in the mountains. The risk of allergy will be zero to low for these species at the end of flowering.

Some practical advice to limit your exposure to pollen and allergy symptoms which go with:

– Rinse your hair in the evening

– Ventilate at least 10 minutes a day before sunrise and following sunset

– Avoid drying laundry outside

– Keep car windows closed to prevent pollen from entering the passenger compartment

Also pay attention to air pollution, particularly ozone in summer, which can exacerbate pollen allergies in certain large cities.

You can consult the allergy risk, as well as the pollution indices, in the same place as the forecasts for your city, at the bottom of the pages of our website.

It is still a good time to report ragweed before the plant sets seed to thus limit its expansion: www.signalement-ambroisie.fr . If there are only a few plants, and it is on public land, you can uproot them but wearing a mask and gloves is strongly recommended to be able to do so in complete safety. Once destroyed, it is better to let the ragweed dry on site to avoid spreading the seeds.

This bulletin is updated every Friday during the pollen season.
