Rafael Nadal’s preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics continued following the Spaniard beat Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the second round of the Swedish Open on Thursday (18/7).
The 38-year-old defeated Norrie, who is the fifth seed, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals.
In the Swedish Open quarter-finals, Nadal will face Argentine Mariono Navone.
Nadal decided to miss Wimbledon to focus on preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Nadal will compete in the men’s singles and doubles with Carlos Alcaraz.
Nadal, who will also appear in the Swedish Open semifinals with Casper Ruud on Saturday (20/7), broke Norrie’s serve once in the first set to take the lead.
After receiving medical attention for falling behind early in the second set, Nadal dropped serve as Norrie’s form improved.
However, Nadal, who trailed 4-1, won five games in a row to win and advance to the quarter-finals of the Swedish Open. (bbc/Z-1)
