Eintracht Frankfurt’s Euro hero from 2022 wants to score goals in Brazil in the future – just like Lucas Alario.
They actually don’t want to give him up, but maybe they will be forced to, we don’t know for sure in these turbulent days, and not just for Werder Bremen. The fact is: the Bundesliga soccer team from the Weser has to deal with the possible departure of attacker Rafael Borré, whether he wants it or not. The Colombian international is currently on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Hanseatic League, but now prefers to play ball in South America. “It is the case that a situation can arise if it becomes lucrative for Frankfurt, if it becomes lucrative for us, that we have to think regarding it,” said Werder’s football boss Clemens Fritz on Tuesday. “But we’re not at that point yet.” But Werder Bremen can still get to that point. Quite quickly, actually.
The attacker’s advisors are putting a lot of pressure behind the scenes and have already reached an agreement with the Brazilian club International Porto Alegre, where the center forward would like to move. The ninth-placed Serie A team is prepared to pay a transfer fee of 5.5 million euros for Borré. Money that Eintracht would be entitled to as an employer. The player is under contract with the Hessians until 2025, Eintracht would immediately give up the player completely, even though he is one of Sevilla’s Euro heroes. But that is history. The Frankfurters have long been clear regarding Inter.
The catch to the story: Of course SV Werder also wants to participate, that’s their right. Borré signed a one-year working paper last summer. Should the loan be canceled, Werder would have to be compensated – and get a replacement for the player who was able to largely meet expectations following initial problems, with four goals on his record.
Lucas Alario can only dream of that, the Argentine didn’t even make it into the Eintracht squad. But he too should move to Inter Porto Alegre – regardless of the Borré deal. Eintracht would be happy to be able to remove the big earner from their payroll. The 31-year-old is considered a huge misunderstanding. Will the strike duo that was so unfortunate in Frankfurt be Inter’s first attack in Brazil?
Werder Bremen is already looking for alternatives. “It would be negligent if we did not keep this position in mind,” said Fritz. Therefore, they are “keeping an eye on the striker market”.
