Raf Publishing House, affiliated with the Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG), announced the signing of a licensing agreement with Disney International, to publish 92 of the famous Disney stories for children in the Middle East and North Africa region, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Lebanon. Oman, the Emirates, and others.
The agreement includes publishing 48 stories translated into Arabic, and 44 stories in English, in addition to a collection of the most famous children’s stories in the world from “Disney,” “Marvel,” and “Star Wars.”

The house said in a statement, “It will convey the magic of Disney World to readers throughout the region, build new ways of communication with all ages, and encourage family bonding between children and their families, by exploring the joy of reading and stimulating the imagination.”
The house explained, “Cooperation between the two sides contributes to addressing the shortage in the Arabic literature market, as a very small percentage of books published around the world are translated into Arabic annually.”

Paula Scott, General Manager of Raf Publishing House, said: “One of our priorities at the publishing house is to focus on providing Arabic books directed to children, which meet the needs of younger age groups, as well as providing high-level literary materials in the Arabic language.”
She added: “This cooperation with Disney represents an important aspect of SRMG’s strategy and vision for expansion and growth, and confirms our commitment to instilling a passion for reading and stimulating the imagination of children in the Middle East and North Africa region.”
This announcement coincides with “Raf Publishing”’s participation in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2023, organized by the Saudi Authority for Literature, Publishing and Translation, from September 28 to October 7.
The first books published under this licensing agreement will be available at the Riyadh exhibition, and in major libraries and bookstores in Saudi Arabia, with plans to distribute them regionally on a larger scale in the future.
This cooperation is an important step in developing the literary materials industry available to children in the Arab region, and encouraging them to read and learn starting from early childhood.
Disney is the latest addition to the Saudi group’s distinguished list of partners, which includes Bloomberg Media, The Independent Group, Billboard, and Shueisha.
Raf Publishing House is the arm of the Saudi group in terms of concluding international cooperation agreements and providing innovative content to a diverse and vibrant audience.
