A bribe of 250 euros was also confiscated, the Special Investigation Service (STT) reported on Friday.

The court satisfied the statement of the prosecutor of Šiauliai district prosecutor’s office regarding the termination of the process with a criminal order of the court.

“Sufficient data was collected in the criminal case to substantiate the charges against the doctor, and after she confessed to the criminal acts, the criminal case was closed after the court issued a criminal order,” says STT.

The investigation into the bribery of doctor Vida Janulaitienė was conducted by the officers of the STT Šiauliai Board, it was organized and led by the prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Department of the Šiauliai District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, the doctor accepted bribes from patients seven times for legal and illegal actions in the performance of her powers – medical examination, consultation, prescribing referrals for treatment.

Four other doctors and one nurse were suspected of corruption and document forgery in this investigation.

In a separate investigation against them, the court satisfied the prosecutor’s statement regarding the termination of the process with a criminal order of the court and awarded a total of 38,000. euro fines.
