The media industry mourns the loss of Gary Krantz,founder of Krantz media Group,who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 65.Krantz’s career spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on radio syndication. his journey began at MJI Broadcasting,where he rose through the ranks,eventually becoming Vice President and General Manager.
In 1997, Krantz joined Chancellor Media’s AMFM Radio Networks, serving as Executive Vice President of Programming. His tenure continued through the company’s merger with Clear Channel’s Premiere Networks, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the industry.Following this, he took the helm as President of Air America, a liberal talk syndicator, before becoming Chief Digital Media Officer for Westwood One/Metro Networks.
Krantz’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Krantz Media Group in 2010. his ventures included serving as Managing Partner of Podcast Radio US and Podcast Israel Media LTD. His expertise was sought after by prominent media organizations, leading to advisory roles with Oaklins desilva+Phillips, a media investment firm, and Geo Broadcast Solutions, a broadcast technology company. He also provided guidance to Red apple Audio Networks and Lasting Media Center.
“Gary was known for his sense of humor, his style, and his generosity. he loved Bruce Springsteen, the beach, and his three kids. He spent much of his time embracing life. He would say, ‘I could never just stay home at my apartment, because when you walk outside, that’s when things happen,’” shared his family in a statement to RAMP.
Krantz leaves behind a legacy of innovation and passion for media. He is survived by his mother, lila Krantz, brothers Scott and Mark krantz, and his three children, Michael, Jane, and Jacqueline Krantz.
A memorial service honoring Gary Krantz’s life will be held on Sunday, January 26, at 2:30 pm at Riverside Memorial Chapel, located at 180 West 76th Street in New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide prevention in Krantz’s memory.

Scott: There were many moments, but one that stands out was when Gary was offered the role of Executive vice President of Programming at AMFM Radio Networks. I remember him expressing his eagerness to take on new challenges and innovate in that capacity. It was clear that this opportunity would let him share his passion for media on a broader scale.
From Executive to Entrepreneur
Archyde: in 2010, Gary founded Krantz Media Group. What inspired him to make this leap into entrepreneurship?
Scott: Gary’s entrepreneurial spirit had always been strong, but I think what truly inspired him was the desire to create a space where innovative, impactful media could thrive. He saw gaps in the industry and wanted to fill them with his own vision.Establishing Krantz media Group allowed him to do just that.
Gary Krantz: More Than a Media Mogul
Archyde: Gary was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his unique personality and passions. How would you describe your brother in three words?
scott: Charming, driven, and generous. Gary had an infectious sense of humor and style that instantly drew people to him.Despite his success, he always remained approachable and eager to help others.
Archyde: and speaking of passions, we understand that Bruce Springsteen, the beach, and his three splendid children topped his list. Any particular Springsteen concert or beach moment you’d like to share?
Scott: Gary was blessed enough to see Springsteen perform numerous times. He always spoke fondly of a concert in the early 90s where Springsteen played for over three hours,calling it a vida loca that embodied his love for life and music. As for the beach, Gary and I shared a memorable trip to Malibu with our families a few years back. He seemed at peace, soaking in the sun and the simplicity of it all.
