Lately, for some nightclub merchants, the economic situation has been a challenge, many have tried to reinvent themselves, while others try to stick to what their clientele liked best without much success.
The Radio Berlin nightclub, known for its rumba techno music (with more than a decade in the night scene) will unfortunately close its doors permanently, as a result of financial challenges aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since its arrival in Bogotá in 2010, located in the La Macarena sector, Radio Berlin stood out as a unique destination for techno lovers, who came to share with friends and enjoy unforgettable nights.
Although the nightclub managed to stay active for a few more years, the losses generated by the pandemic were insurmountable and they finally made the difficult decision to close for good.
Radio Berlin’s farewell will be big: They have announced two electronic music parties for the next 26 and 29 July, which will mark the closure of this stage of their history.
These events will be attended by renowned guests and will be an opportunity to provide one last unforgettable experience to your loyal fans.
In an emotional statement, the club expressed its gratitude to the “ravers” for living unforgettable nights in their space, filling the cage with incomparable energy and sharing unique moments to the rhythm of the best music.
This farewell represents the closing of a cycle, but they invite everyone to join them on the dancefloor to celebrate these last nights in a big way.
“Thank you for so much, ravers. For living our nights in the cage always with the best energy and, most importantly, music to enjoy unique moments. A cycle closes. Invited to share with us these 4 nights on the dancefloor. Pending the programming that will be up to this farewell “, the club said in a statement.
The public received the news of the closure of one of the most remembered cinemas in the country’s capital, Cinema Paraíso, following 20 years of having started its operation.
In the written voice of the director of one of the most important centers of the cinematographic world in Bogotá, Federico Mejía Guinand, announced the closure from May 1, 2023.
“After 20 years of embarking on this adventure, of making a dream called Cinema Paraíso come true in this neighborhood of Usaquén, this weekend our projectors will go off (…) On May 1 we will have our last performances at this venue, which undoubtedly became a milestone for Bogotá and for independent cinema that for years presented on its screens the best images of film production of this new century.”
In the statement, Mejía Guinand thanked not only his audience, but also the great figures who were on stage, as he pointed out that:
“We also want to thank the directors, everyone, the teachers and the Nobel Prize winners; of all nationalities and origins. To all those who lit our billboard. Thanks to them for letting us discover their vision of the world and giving us beautiful, wonderful images that described in great detail the beginning of this convulsed 21st century full of transformations”.
Although the farewell did not mention the reasons why the decision to close Cinema Paraíso would have been made, its director pointed out that it would be time to carry out: “…other searches, another space, where, surely, the light will shine brightly once more”.
