The Minister of Culture Rachida Dati has cited the chairman of the board of directors of Renault, Jean-Dominique Senard, for obstruction of justice and omission to testify in favor of an innocent person, indicated the Nanterre prosecutor’s office, confirming information from Nouvel Obs. “I confirm that a hearing date for recording has been given for this direct quote recorded on April 2”indicated the public prosecutor.

Rachida Dati seized the Nanterre criminal court via the so-called procedure of “direct quote” in order to have Jean-Dominique Senard appear on May 23. In this act, cited by Le Nouvel Obs, the minister’s lawyer accuses Mr. Senard of having “concealed and concealed from the French justice system essential documents likely to exonerate Madame Rachida Dati of the offenses with which she is accused”.

Senard “serene”

Nicolas Sarkozy’s former Minister of Justice and former European Member of Parliament is indicted for corruption and passive influence peddling by a person vested with a public elective mandate since July 2021, in the investigation into contracts entered into by a subsidiary of Renault-Nissan when Carlos Ghosn was its CEO. In the citation, Rachida Dati’s counsel states that “the goal sought by Jean-Dominique Senard was to overwhelm Carlos Ghosn in a general desire to denigrate and criticize the choices of his predecessor”with “a clear desire for secrecy, intended to artificially burden Madame Rachida Dati in order to reach Carlos Ghosn”.

“Mr. Senard is calm in the face of this new action, which is founded neither in law nor in fact.reacted Me Antonin Levy, Jean-Dominique Senard’s lawyer. “Since taking office, the company has cooperated fully with the judicial authorities and responded to all requests issued by them and aimed at obtaining documents allowing the judge to form an opinion on the activities of Madame Dati”added the council.
