Rachid M’Barki case: Jean-Pierre Duthion behind foreign “interference” at BFM TV, according to Liberation

According to information relayed by the newspaper ReleaseJean-Pierre Duthion provided at least three subjects to the presenter of BFM TV Rachid M’Barki, on behalf of Moroccan, Sudanese and Bahraini customers. “A former fixer in Syria, Duthion privately boasts of paying journalists to ‘place’ subjects,” writes the French daily.

The daily mentions a sequence at the heart of the affair which shakes BFM TV, and which is investigating suspicions of interference internally, via the Franco-Moroccan host Rachid M’Barki, who is presenting the newspaper of the night.

“When do you want me to broadcast the text with the video on BFM TV?”

‘CheckNews’ (newspaper topic Release) argues that according to exchanges on WhatsApp dating from October 2022, which she was able to consult, “two men are negotiating the conditions for the dissemination of an “ordered” subject, boasting the role of Sudan in the fight against illegal immigration”.

“Thursday, wishes the client, representing a rich Sudanese businessman. He will be granted, although disappointed: the subject will pass during the night, far from the expected prime time. A haggling that violates all the rules of ethics journalistic, and which nevertheless concerns the first continuous news channel in the country”, continues the newspaper.

Having left for Damascus on business, Jean-Pierre Duthion gradually went from an essential media witness to a journalist, wrote in 2013 the French magazine The Obs.

On website, Jean-Pierre Duthion introduces himself as a lobbyist and media consultant.
