“I am the proudest dad on the planet”

“This is my daughter Rachel. Today she graduated from college. Rachel has Down syndrome. I am officially the proudest father on the planet,” wrote the moved father, accompanying his publication with a photo of his daughter. The young girl earned a diploma from the California Institute of the Arts. Rachel has been passionate regarding art since a young age. She therefore always aspired to study fine arts at university.
Rachel’s parents realized their daughter was attracted to art when they visited a world art museum. “It was the first time we took her to the Musée d’Orsay, her mother was carrying her when we entered the Van Gogh gallery, and it was as if an electric shock had gone through Rachel’s body. She had an instant, strong, positive physical reaction to the art,” Jay told PEOPLE magazine.

The reaction of Internet users
Jay announced his daughter’s success on his Twitter account. “I am officially the proudest father on the planet,” he said. The tweet has since garnered more than 220,000 likes and 19,000 retweets. Jay had a lot to be proud of. Rachel has Down syndrome. People with Down syndrome have difficulty successfully completing their higher education program, and for good reason, this condition causes a delay in the physical and mental development of the child with Down syndrome.

Several parents of children with Down syndrome reacted to Jay’s post. “I mightn’t not like this message. My daughter has Down syndrome, she is a high school student and just a few days ago she told me that she had found the perfect school to attend. She’s like Rachel,” one mother wrote.
“Congratulations to your daughter and we thank you both for leading the way, so that my daughter (with Down syndrome) can have the same future,” another mother wrote, while another user noted: “ You deserve the title of proudest father, because without love and support, your daughter might not have achieved this success. » Rachel is ambitious. She shares her talent and passion on her Instagram page.
Rachel’s case is a source of inspiration for many people with this disability. One thing is certain, Down syndrome can never be an obstacle to a child’s development.
