The speeder pushed an unmarked police vehicle on Sunday evening shortly before 9.30 p.m. in the fast lane of the A3 near Thalwil in the direction of Chur with insufficient distance, as the Zurich cantonal police announced on Monday. As the police vehicle changed to normal lane, the young man accelerated his car.
In the subsequent follow-up measurement at up to 249 km/h, the police officers were only able to catch up with the speeder when he braked his car to leave the motorway. The driver was arrested, his car seized and his driver’s license taken away.
When asked by Blick, the Zurich Kapo did not want to say exactly how long the chase lasted. According to media spokesman Kenneth Jones, it ended in the Zurich canton. In this case, the Horgen, Wädenswil or Richterswil exits are possible.
The A1 was also driven too fast
Also on Sunday evening around 9:30 p.m., the police also stopped another fast driver on the A1 near Rümlang in the direction of Bern. The Sri Lankan man exceeded the permitted speed of 80 km/h on the section by more than 60 km/h. He had to hand in his driver’s license and is being reported to the public prosecutor’s office.
