Race to the MVP – Week 3: Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts to the top!

Thursday is MVP! Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes brooms! The bookies are very clear, the two new favorites to MVP are called Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts. If this data is worth what it is worth, it is clear that the two mobile QBs are making an almost perfect start to the season. However, it is still early to bury the two huge favorites from the start of the season, just like a Tua Tagovailoa who was also very successful at the start of the year.

1- Lamar Jackson (+4) Quarterback – Baltimore Ravens (2-1)

3 games – 749 yards at 63.6% – 10 touchdowns, 2 interceptions – 243 yards, 2 rushing touchdowns – 119 rating

The great Lamar Jackson is back! Number 1 in the NFL in evaluation and the number of touchdowns thrown, the Ravens quarterback seems to have returned to the level which, in 2019, made him the second MVP in history to be voted MVP unanimously. But his coaches and his teammates are formal. Jackson is much stronger today than in 2019. Much more patient in the pocket, he is also much more precise in the pass and directs his attack with even more authority. A great development that culminates at the best time to land the best of contracts.

2- Jalen Hurts (+1) Quarterback – Philadelphia Eagles (3-0)

3 games – 916 yards at 67.4% – 4 touchdowns, 1 interception – 167 yards, 3 rushing touchdowns – 106.5 rating

Put on the stake by many Eagles fans following a mediocre last season, not to say catastrophic at times, Jalen Hurts transformed a few months later into a dominant quarterback who wins his team. The kind of totally crazy story that the NFL knows so well how to offer us. Slightly lower than his Ravens counterpart in terms of passing stats, Hurts is still the X-factor of the Eagles offense and a big reason why the Philadelphia franchise is one of the last undefeated teams. This year.

3- Josh Allen (-2) Quarterback – Buffalo Bills (2-1)

3 games – 104 yards at 71.2% – 9 touchdowns, 2 interceptions – 113 yards, 1 rushing touchdown – 109.8 rating

Supplanted this week by two UFOs and beaten on the field by a very sharp Dolphins defense, Josh Allen remains a solid candidate in the MVP race. With a 400-yard game and two touchdowns, Allen mightn’t do more this week. The only quarterback in the league to have already passed the 1,000-yard mark following just three games, he shows no signs of weakness yet. The reunion at the top with the Ravens of Lamar Jackson this Sunday will be rich in lessons for this ranking.

4- Tua Tagovailoa (-) Quarterback – Miami Dolphins (3-0)

3 games – 925 yards at 71.3% – 8 touchdowns, 2 interceptions – 1 yard rushing – 117.8 rating

The tests follow each other from week to week and the Dolphins of Tua Tagovailoa pass them all without incident. After the sensational comeback last week once morest the Ravens, the Dolphins offered the scalp of the team that seemed unstoppable at the start of the season. Injured during the match and then quickly back, Tagovailoa continues to capitalize on his very good relations with Tyreek Hill and especially Jaylen Waddle to win matches for his team. And the result is there, for the moment.

5- Patrick Mahomes (-3) Quarterback – Kansas City Chiefs (2-1)

3 games – 857 yards at 67.9% – 8 touchdowns, 1 interception – 30 yards rushing – 112.1 rating

The rag is burning in Missouri! Unable to get the upper hand on a Colts team that appeared listless last week, Patrick Mahomes and Eric Bieniemy, his offensive coordinator, had a heated exchange late in the game. Yet ahead throughout the game, the Chiefs ended up getting caught, and Mahomes did not show his usual ability to do the little miracle that gets his people out of a misstep. Certainly a mishap for a Mahomes who will have things to prove this week.
