R. Sunaks to V. Zelenskiy: UK will firmly support Ukraine

“The Prime Minister has indicated that the UK will continue to provide military and diplomatic support to Ukraine, including the continued provision of lethal aid,” a Downing Street spokesman said in a summary of the conversation.

Moscow is stepping up airstrikes once morest Ukraine, with Russian President Vladimir Putin vowing to step up strikes on Monday following Ukraine’s unprecedented attack on the Russian city of Belgorod.

During the conversation, Sunak “expressed his condolences to all Ukrainians killed and injured in the barbaric Russian airstrikes over the Christmas period,” a Downing Street spokesman said.

“The Prime Minister said that the United Kingdom will continue to strongly support Ukraine in its fight once morest aggression and occupation in 2024 and beyond,” he said.

“The leaders discussed the latest developments in the conflict, including progress in the Black Sea and the success of Ukraine’s air defenses, bolstered by a UK-supplied surface-to-air missile,” he added.

Last week, the UK government announced it would send around 200 air defense missiles to Ukraine following a wave of deadly Russian strikes.

According to the Ministry of Defence, these missiles will complement air defense systems donated to the UK that can shoot down Russian drones and missiles with incredible accuracy.
