As reported by the Supreme Court of Lithuania (LAT), R. Kurlianskis is also asking to suspend the execution of the prison sentence until the case is resolved in the cassation procedure.
In the complaint of G. Steponavičius’ defender, it is requested to annul the judgment of the Court of Appeal, by which the former member of the Seimas was recognized to have abused his office by awarding him 15 thousand. EUR fine, and to uphold the decision of the Vilnius District Court.
The defender of the former vice president of MG Baltic, R. Kurlianskis, requests the annulment of the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which imposed six years of imprisonment and 19,000 fines. On Tuesday, the cassation appeal of the former Seimas member Šarūnas Gustainis, who was convicted in the “MG Baltic” case, was received, requesting the annulment of the judgment of the Court of Appeal regarding bribery and 5.5 thousand. EUR to the state for the recovery of state legal aid costs.

On Tuesday, the Labor Party, convicted of bribery and influence peddling in the MG Baltic (now MG Grupė) case, filed a cassation complaint with the LAT.

Kurlianskis, the former leader of the Liberal Movement Eligijus Masiulis, the member of the Seimas Vytautas Gapšys and their lawyers, as well as by MG Grupė.
Some complaints have already been accepted for consideration, the acceptance of others will still be decided.
The Court of Appeal found that R. Kurlianskis asked V. Gapši, using his position as a member of the Seimas and his influence on fellow party members, to influence other civil servants – the then Speaker of the Seimas, members of the Labor Party faction in the Seimas, the leadership and members of the Seimas Budget and Finance Committee, and the Minister of Agriculture, – that they act legally and illegally in the exercise of their powers as R. Kurlianskis requested.
As the court announced, an illegal reward was agreed for this – disguised bribes, which, after V. Gapšius promised to influence the requested persons and after he himself performed the actions requested by R. Kurlianskis, received an additional 12.1 thousand. EUR discount for the political advertising of the Labor Party and 15 thousand. EUR support to the public institution “Art and Sports Projects”.
