Fallen American R&B star R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison last Wednesday following being convicted of years of running a system of sexual exploitation of young people, including teenage girls.
He is now serving his sentence in the Brooklyn Penitentiary Center in New York but is already complaining regarding his conditions of detention. So much so that the former star has filed a complaint once morest the prison in which he is imprisoned. For the singer, the conditions to which he is subjected constitute a “cruel and unusual punishment”.
R. Kelly had been placed under increased surveillance in a specific wing of the prison because of his fame. But he feels his rights are no longer being respected because “he is not suicidal and has expressly told Brooklyn Detention Center officials that he is not and has no intention of harming himself. or to others”, reported the American media TMZ which succeeded in obtaining the filing of a complaint.
