R. Karbauskis: The Hidden Dangers of Overlooked Educational Spaces

“The discussion about safety in schools, if we talk about the area that caused the most concern for parents, then the talk about drugs started even earlier. And the president, when raising the issue of drug distribution in schools, actually talked about insecurity in schools and their territories, and that drugs get into schools without any problems,” R. Karbauskis said in an interview with Žiniai Radio on Friday.

According to the leader of the “peasants”, the parents were most worried about the fact that, knowing that narcotics can enter schools freely, they understand that “anyone can enter”, that is, explosives could also be brought in freely if someone were to commit such acts of terror. because not all school grounds are fenced, surveillance cameras are not everywhere.

“I think that in the current situation, when the threats don’t reach the schools on the second day, they are gone, the conclusion should be that we should fix the security of the schools, the perimeter of the schools, and then we can say that the threat is unreal, the threat is conditional, because to the school nobody could get in”, said R. Karbauskis.

Police said on Friday they had not received false reports of explosives for the second day in a row, after a flood of threats hit institutions, mostly educational institutions, between last Friday and the middle of this week.

The head of the National Crisis Management Center (NKVC), Vilmantas Vitkauskas, confirmed on Thursday that the cyber attack has stopped, at least for the time being.

From last Friday until the middle of this week, Lithuanian institutions received thousands of e-mails with fake threats about allegedly planted explosives in schools, kindergartens, and municipal buildings, such messages also poured in in Latvia and Estonia.

The Ministry of Interior says it is a regional level cyber attack. NKVC links the attack to Russia.
